Mastering the ABC’s of Self-Love

The ages we are in now are some of the toughest in our lives.

We undergo physical changes while striving for academic success, seeking new opportunities, absorbing new information, and meeting new people.

We grow and succeed, but we also fail, fall short, and struggle. We sometimes get so caught up in the lives of others that we forget who we are as individuals. Finding oneself and loving oneself for who they are, not who others expect them to be, is not a linear journey. It is challenging to develop healthy self-love habits, and it takes time.

To help you on your self-love journey, I have come up with a list of practices and ideals that I’ve implemented in my life – the ABCs!

A – Accept Acceptance of circumstances and outcomes is crucial. Life is never perfect, and it can be challenging to accept that it’s not always going to be smooth sailing. However, learning to embrace discomfort and accepting that life is a journey, filled with ups and downs, is vital for personal growth and self-love. Believe that you will be alright no matter what.

B – Breathe Take a moment to inhale and live in the present. Allow yourself to let go of everything else and focus solely on how you feel. Savor the good moments and hold on to the feeling that comes with them. Identify the reasons behind your negative emotions and love yourself through the good and the bad.

C – Confidence Even if you don’t believe yourself to be inherently confident, there are techniques to improve your self-esteem. Find something that makes you feel good about yourself and reminds you of how amazing you are. It’s public speaking for me, since it allows me to be myself and share my stories. Find and embrace your happy place.

To summarise, self-love is an ongoing journey, and it is acceptable to be on it. The self-relationship grows with time, and it is critical to embrace personal growth and development. Using the ABCs – Acceptance, Breathing, and Confidence – will help you love yourself every step of the way.
