Zomatoā€™s Latest Ad Sparks Debate Over Pronunciation

In the ad, a family is seen arguing over the correct pronunciation of Zomato, which escalates quickly, and all hell breaks loose. From chair-smashing to pot-throwing and TV-busting, everyone, including TV personalities, children, workers, and bystanders, is knee-deep into the ZoMaato vs ZoMaito tug of war.

šŸŒŸ The ā€˜Multiversalā€™ Campaign: As a follow-up, Zomato released a carousel Instagram post ā€” its own ā€˜multiverseā€™ of ads, where other popular brands add unique twists to small segments taken out from the original. This call to action for other brands is truly an experimental campaign, a major departure from the advertising convention.

šŸ’” The Potential and Pitfalls: The ā€˜multiversalā€™ campaign, though well-received, will now have to fight for ā€˜universalityā€™. The Instagram ad series has received positive reviews and praise for the scriptwriter, but do these ads fit anywhere outside of Instagram posts? The videos wonā€™t work as standalone television commercials either.

šŸ‘Ž The Biggest Downside: The biggest downside of the Zomato Instagram campaign is that it doesnā€™t inform the viewer about the functionality of the food delivery platform. Thatā€™s not a good call for a young brand like Zomato. With little added to the brand value of Zomato, the adsā€™ effectiveness is heavily platform-dependent.

šŸ‘‰ The Verdict: While the Zomato campaign has sparked a lot of buzzes and given Instagram users a new meme format, it falls short in terms of promoting the brandā€™s functionality. With competitors like Swiggy making strides in the package and grocery delivery, Zomato will need to up its game in terms of creativity and marketing to stay ahead in the game.

Embracing Adversity: Turning Difficulty into Opportunity

Caught in the Rain: Adversity is an inevitable part of life. Like getting caught in a cold, torrential downpour with nothing but a colander for an umbrella, it can leave us feeling drenched and helpless. But what if we could harness the potential of adversity to drive innovation and growth? In this chapter, weā€™ll explore nine strategies for embracing adversity and turning it into an advantage.

Challenges and setbacks can be unpleasant, but they also offer a unique opportunity for growth. Instead of shying away from the storm, put on your metaphorical raincoat and dance in the rain. By learning to tolerate discomfort, youā€™ll be better equipped to face lifeā€™s challenges and emerge stronger than before.

When faced with adversity, itā€™s easy to get bogged down in negativity. But like a skilled photographer who can turn a mundane scene into a masterpiece by changing the angle, you too can reframe your perspective. Ask yourself what you can learn from the experience or how you can use the challenge to grow. By focusing on the potential for growth, youā€™ll be more likely to turn adversity into an advantage.

Resilience isnā€™t a trait that someone is born with; itā€™s a skill that can be developed with practice. Start by setting small, achievable goals that push you out of your comfort zone. As you overcome these challenges, youā€™ll gain confidence in your ability to tackle even bigger obstacles. Consistency is key, just like any workout routine.

Adopting a growth mindset means viewing challenges as opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable obstacles. This perspective shift can make all the difference in your ability to bounce back from setbacks and turn adversity into an advantage. It takes hard work, but itā€™s like turning water into wine.

In navigating adversity, surround yourself with a network of supportive friends, mentors, and colleagues who can provide encouragement, advice, and a shoulder to cry on when the going gets tough. Remember, even superheroes need a sidekick.

Practice Self-Compassion, In the face of adversity, itā€™s all too easy to beat yourself up and dwell on perceived shortcomings. Practice self-compassion by acknowledging your struggles, forgiving yourself for any missteps, and reminding yourself of your inherent worth. Everyone has an off day now and then.

Embrace Failure, Failure is an essential ingredient in the recipe for resiliency. Treat setbacks and failures as valuable learning experiences that provide you with the knowledge and wisdom to do better next time. Like adding a pinch of salt to a batch of cookies, without it, the end result would be bland and lackluster.

Find Your Purpose, Having a clear sense of purpose can act as a guiding star when navigating the stormy seas of adversity. Take some time to reflect on your values, dreams, and goals. Let them light your path through the darkness.

Keep Moving Forward, When faced with adversity, itā€™s important to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even if it feels like youā€™re moving at a snailā€™s pace. Like Dory from Finding Nemo wisely said, ā€œJust keep swimming!ā€ Celebrate your small victories and remember that the road to success is often paved with setbacks and detours.

Embracing the Storm: Turning difficulty into opportunity is all about embracing the storm, learning from setbacks, and developing the resilience to bounce back stronger than before. By practicing these nine strategies, youā€™ll not only be better equipped to handle lifeā€™s challenges but youā€™ll also unlock your full potential.

PhonePe Launches Pincode, its Hyperlocal E-commerce App

Whatā€™s sipping?ā˜• PhonePe, Indiaā€™s largest UPI app, has launched Pincode, a hyperlocal e-commerce app built on top of the Open Network for Digital Commerce network (ONDC).

The app is the first buyer-side app on ONDC, a network that enables transactions between buyers and sellers, regardless of the platforms or applications used by the parties involved. Unlike payments, shopping is experiential, and hence, Pincode was developed as a separate app, according to PhonePe CEO Sameer Nigam.

The app, which is currently available only for customers in Bengaluru, onboards seller apps and not stores, and does not touch the price, with the seller paying a commission to the seller platform, a part of which goes to the buyer platform. With over 10,000 downloads on Google Play Store, the app aims to target audiences that use Swiggy, Zomato, Dunzo, or Zepto for food or grocery deliveries.

šŸ” Sorting and Listing Issues for Users: While signing up for Pincode is seamless, the app lacks standard features such as sorting and logical listing, causing inconvenience for regular users of other apps. For example, there is no option to toggle between vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, jump to the ā€˜mainsā€™ or ā€˜dessertā€™ section, or sort through content.

Similarly, the app continues to show live listings even when orders are not being accepted, and there is no option to upload a prescription to receive drugs from the nearest pharmacy. However, the app offers features such as the ability to add multiple carts, build a grocery list on the app, and save carts for easy access.

šŸ’° Pricing and Discounts: Pincode offers a 10-15% discount on most restaurants in the area, although it is unclear if the discounts are offered by the restaurants, PhonePe, or ONDC. Prices on apps such as Swiggy and Zomato are higher than at the restaurant, as these apps levy steep commissions.

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ’» First-hand Experience: One user placed an order from a restaurant that was 1.3 km away from home and was charged Rs 30 for packaging, Rs 8.92 for a seller convenience fee, and Rs 6.90 in taxes, apart from the food. The app may have some bugs in certain areas and may need improvements, but it offers a seamless experience for PhonePe users and aims to compete with its rivals in the hyperlocal e-commerce space.
