Simple Viral Games Secures Rs 4 Crore in Funding from WEH Ventures!

What’s Sipping? â˜• Simple Viral Games, a hyper-casual game platform, has raised Rs 4 crore in a pre-seed fundraising round headed by WEH Ventures.

Eximius Ventures, PointOne Capital, and Force Ventures also participated in the round. The Gurugram-based micro venture fund will use the funds to build distribution, expand its team, and add partnerships with gaming developers. â€œWe will onboard solo game developers and game studios to publish their instant games on our platform while giving some share in revenue,” says Rahul KR, co-founder, of Simple Viral Games.

Founded in November 2021 by Rahul KR, a former product manager at Apna, and Sourav Badami, who was earlier with GoJek, Simple Viral Games has titles like Time Pass, Element Block, Golf Adventures, and Comfy Farm, in its portfolio. The startup also plans to build an offline version of Time Pass, which is currently available on iOS, Android, and its website.

The gaming sector in India is still nascent, but with potential for significant growth driven by digital adoption in the country. The market was valued at $2.6 billion in FY2022 and is projected to be worth about $8.6 billion by 2027, according to a report by Lumikai.

India is home to 507 million gamers, of whom 24% (121 million) are paying users, according to the same report. Simple Viral Games is also working on developing fast-loading casual online games, similar to Google-incubated GameSnacks.

“We think Rahul and Sourav have great chemistry and complementary skills to build a TikTok for gaming platforms for Bharat,” says Rohit Krishna, general partner, WEH Ventures.

Consistency vs Intensity

We often hear about the impressive achievements of those who have pushed themselves to the limits through intense challenges like running a marathon, writing a book in 30 days, or embarking on a silent meditation retreat. These feats of intensity make for good stories and can be a source of inspiration for others.

However, the real key to making progress and achieving long-term success lies in consistency. By consistently showing up and putting in the work, we can create lasting habits and make steady progress toward our goals.

One example of the power of consistency is Jerry Seinfeld, who famously committed to writing a joke every day, no matter what. This simple practice helped him to become one of the most successful comedians of all time:

“After a few days you’ll have a chain. Just keep at it and the chain will grow longer every day. You’ll like seeing that chain, especially when you get a few weeks under your belt. Your only job next is to not break the chain.” â€“ Jerry Seinfeld

Similarly, billionaire investor Warren Buffett has attributed his success to the power of consistency and incremental progress:

“I don’t look to jump over seven-foot bars: I look around for one-foot bars that I can step over.” â€“ Warren Buffett

In contrast to the intensity of a marathon or a silent meditation retreat, consistent daily habits like working out regularly or writing every week may not seem as impressive. However, it is through these small, consistent actions that we can build the habits and skills needed for long-term success.

As the saying goes, â€œconsistency is key.” By focusing on consistency over intensity, we can create lasting habits and make steady progress toward our goals. So instead of seeking out the next big challenge, focus on showing up every day and putting in the work. The results may not be as flashy, but they will be much more sustainable and rewarding in the long run.

UK PM Rishi Sunak Sends Stern Warning to Migrants: No Free Passes!

What’s said? â€œI have made the issue of illegal migration one of my top five priorities,” British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said.

On Sunday, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak unveiled a proposed law to tackle the issue of migrants crossing over into the UK illegally and dangerously in small boats from across the English Channel. Sunak, along with his Indian-origin Home Secretary Suella Braverman, has made cracking down on this illegal route between the UK’s sea border with neighboring France among his top priorities for the year.

The New Law: Stopping the Boats Once and For All

Sunak believes he has found the answer to a problem that has dogged the government for the past four years after weeks of work carried out in relative secrecy by senior aides in the UK Home Office and at No. 10 Downing Street. The group has now drawn up new laws to slam a ‘brake’ on any abuse of human rights laws that allows illegal migrants to escape deportation from the UK. It is hoped the new law will stop activist lawyers from using the right to family life and legislation created to combat modern slavery to stop their clients from being deported.

Braverman wrote in the ‘Sun on Sunday’ to say “enough is enough” and that the British people want the issue solved. “They’re sick of tough talk and inadequate action. We must stop the boats. That’s why myself and the Prime Minister have been working flat out to bring forward necessary and effective laws which will tackle this problem, once and for all.”

Opposition Labour’s Stance

So far, the Opposition Labour has opposed every effort to bring a stop to illegal migration. “They are not serious about tackling the issue that is only becoming ever more serious and allows criminal gangs to exploit vulnerable people. The Prime Minister and I will do whatever it takes. You can judge us by our actions,” Braverman writes.

The New Law in Action: The law is expected to give powers to the Home Secretary to remove anyone who arrives on a small boat “as soon as reasonably practicable” to Rwanda, with which the UK clinched a bilateral agreement or a “safe third country”. Sunak and Braverman are also expected to travel to Paris towards the end of next week for talks with French President Emmanuel Macron to explore an enhanced agreement over the issue of small boats crossing over from Calais in France to Dover in England.

Conclusion: With this proposed law, Sunak and Braverman are taking a tough stance on illegal migration and are determined to deliver on their promise to stop the boats once and for all. The proposed law is expected to address the issue of human rights abuse that allows illegal migrants to escape deportation from the UK, and it is hoped that this will be an effective solution to the problem.

SMALL SIPS

NSE removes: National Stock Exchange on Monday removed four Adani Group firms, and 10 other firms from its Nifty Alpha 50 index. I’m your guy: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates met Anshul Bhatt, a Class 9 student from Mumbai, who made history last year by becoming the youngest winner at the World Youth Bridge Championship in Italy. The billionaire philanthropist, who seems to share his love for cards, met the teenager during his visit to India.

Kacha Badam: One catchy song can turn a common man into a star. That’s what happened with Bhuban Badyakar, the peanut seller who used to sing Kacha Badam to sell the peanuts. Someone recorded him and uploaded it on the internet, and he became a viral sensation. So much so, he bagged a song with rapper Badshah. He was even lauded by the West Bengal Police. But was he just another one-hit wonder?

Japan Will Disappear: Japan PM Fumio Kishida’s advisor has said in a statement that the country will cease to exist if it can’t slow the fall in its birth rate that threatens to shatter the social safety net and its economy. “If we go on like this, the country will disappear,” Masako Mori told Bloomberg in an interview after Japan announced in February that the number of babies born last year slumped to a record low.

Grow by 7.2%: China declared its official draft defence budget 2023, which would increase the annual defence budget to 1.5537 trillion yuan or US $224.79 billion, an increase of 7.2 percent, a straight eighth successive year increase.
